Instructional Coach - 220 days
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To positively impact student achievement and professional learning through coaching and demonstrating best instructional practice.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A valid Virginia teaching license and at least three years of successful classroom experience.
- Preferred Supervision and Administration endorsement.
DUTIES:
- Effectively use a coaching model to assist in the continuous improvement of instruction.
- Support teachers in the implementation of division-level initiatives and programs.
- Collaborate with the principal to determine what instructional support is needed to achieve the goals of the school improvement plan.
- Assist teachers in integrating highly effective instructional practices into their plans and lessons.
- Work with administrators and teachers to interpret student achievement data and determine related instructional needs.
- Observe access resources collect data provide feedback and demonstrate lessons in classrooms as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with adult learners based on their changing needs.
- Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of SOL content and skills across content areas and grade levels K-8.
- Demonstrated ability to transfer research-based practices into classroom instruction.
- Strong demonstrated belief in teacher efficacy and the power of continuous learning.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of and/or experience in using the cognitive coaching process.
- Ability to model instructional strategies including differentiation techniques across content areas and grade levels.
- Skills in building collaborative relationships with principals and with teachers at all levels of experience.
- Knowledge and experience using a variety of assessment tools and analyzing student data.
- Ability to maintain relationships which are supportive of both teachers and administrators with student learning as the focus.
- Acts as a resource who is skillful reliable credible and accessible.
- Communicate the goals and processes of the coaching model and use it effectively in working with teacher.
