Job Description

IMC is currently hiring a Clinic LPN - Jeanerette Rural Health Clinic whounderthe immediate supervision of the Nurse Practitioner or the Physician willperform tasks as assigned in relation to provision of health care services inan outpatient clinic setting interacting effectively with patientssignificant others and other health care team members.EDUCATION
- Graduation from an Accredited School ofPractical Nursing
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
- Current LPN licensure in the state ofLouisiana
- CPR certification preferred
TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in an outpatientsetting is desired but not required.
- Family Planning and Medicaid; Wellness;& Vaccine experience preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
- Basic assessment of all age groups.
- Proficient in medication administration.
- Knowledge of abnormal vital signs.
PRINCIPLE TASKS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Applies the nursing process to eachpatient and implements age sensitive nursing actions.
- Obtains age-appropriate intakeassessment data on each patient.
- Assists in determining priority ofservices provided to patients.
- Administers medications and treatmentsto patients as ordered considering age-specific administration techniquesdosages and method of approach.
- Screens patient phone calls (at theoffice and on call) and prioritizes for further action by NP or MD.
- Assists in patient/family educationproviding and using age-appropriate information.
- Documents all activities appropriatelyin patient chart.
- Collects specimens for lab testsfollowing OSHA universal blood and body fluid precautions and performs CLIAwaived lab tests according to clinic policy/procedure while consideringage-specific ways to deal with apprehension of the patient. Utilizes age-appropriate venipunctureprocedures.
- Properly utilizes and maintainsequipment and supplies.
- Assists the NP with exams dressingchanges etc. as necessary.
- Maintains open communication with allteam members and assists them as needed.
- Maintains a safe patient environmentincluding using infection control principles.
- Recognizes emergency situations andresponds appropriately.
- Assists in orientations of new employeesand staff education.
- Participates in Quality Assuranceactivities.
- Follows the Policies and Procedures ofthe hospital and clinic.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care based on physical psycho-social educationalsafety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served.
