Position SummaryBancroft School seeks a full-time Upper School Science teacher to join our collaborative and dynamic team of educators starting in August of 2025. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage students in meaningful inquiry problem solving and collaborative exploration. Developing students skills as critical thinkers self-advocates positive contributors and engaged citizens is central to this position. Faculty use creative approaches to teaching and learning. Technological expertise is required as each Upper School student and teacher utilizes personal technology both inside and outside of the classroom. Science curriculum and assessment is rooted in the NGSS with a focus on scaffolded scientific and inquiry skill development. We seek a collaborative person ready to work with the Science Department Chair the Academic Support Team and the Upper School Division Head to support students. In addition to teaching science we are looking for a committed community member to be an active participant in the community beyond the classroom with an interest in supporting extracurricular activities in athletics clubs and other programs. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 4 sections of Life Science Classes preferably AP Biology Marine Science and Anatomy and Physiology. This includes all aspects of planning instruction and assessment.
- Communicate consistently and regularly with students and advisors.
- Support a diverse community that is informed self-reflective and characterized by respect and careful listening.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Education or a related field Masters degree preferred.
- Three to five years of teaching experience is preferred.
- Experience in and enthusiasm for implementing inquiry-based learning.
- Proven ability to differentiate instruction.
