Job Description

POSITION:Transportation Supervisor (Non-Union)

LOCATION:Transportation Department

FTE:1.0

WORKING HOURS: May vary between6AM - 6PM

CALENDAR:260Days Annually; August - July

SALARY:$85985.65 - $98575.30Per Year(based on 2024-2025 salary schedule 2025-2026 salary schedule pending)

Job Purpose: The purpose of the Transportation Supervisor is to improve student achievement through the coordination of transportation activities associated with student safety department success driver communication operational efficiency district and community relations.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

  • Supervises the Routing Training and Safety areas of the Transportation Department.
  • Supervises all trainers traineescover/trip driving staff and others as assigned.
  • Trains and supervises all load zone staff using the (ODE Crossing Guard training)
  • Work is reviewed periodically to assure compliance to standards and measured results
  • Evaluations of employee on-the-road performance
  • Evaluates training staff
  • Reports to the Transportation Director

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for the recruitment interviewing and onboarding of new and potential employees
  • Supervises the training of new drivers including Behind-the-Wheel training as needed.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the bus video surveillance system & video reviews
  • Assist the Director with planning and execution of the Transportation Department annual in-service meeting/training.
  • Checking road conditions as needed including inclement weather response.
  • Create a training calendar for each school year
  • Oversee the implementation of the Entry Level Driver Training Program
  • Compliance with district local and state and federal requirements for the assigned area(s)
  • Maintain the DMV Automated Reporting Service and records
  • Maintain all ODE Driver Training and Testing Records
  • Re-Education and Training of current employees as assigned by the Director
  • Responding to vehicle accidents and student management calls as needed
  • Design and implement the school bus safe rider education program
  • Schedule training for all new employees
  • (combining this line with the next)
  • Train and ensure compliance for all type 10 and SPAB contractors including maintaining all required records
  • Leads the Service Center Safety Committee

Other Job Functions:

  • Ability to flex schedule with the Transportation Director to make sure operation is always supervised.
  • Attend all appropriate meetings as needed/assigned
  • Attend trainings and/or meetings to stay apprised of current rules and regulations
  • Conducting CDL tests for Oregon School Bus Drivers
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with transportation employees schools and other district staff
  • Investigate all safety concerns for bus loading areas walking/crossing hazards accidents student management concerns and others as needed/assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements-Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five (5) years successful driving experience
  • Previous experience with training and safety in school transportation required
  • Accident investigation training/experience preferred

Licenses and/or Certifications Required:

  • Appropriate CDL and endorsements to drive an Oregon school bus
  • ODE Behind the Wheel Instructor
  • ODE CORE and Advanced Classroom Instructoror ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • ODE/DMV Third Party Tester or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Trained in reasonable suspicion or ability to obtain within 3 months.

Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skills to operate standard office equipment including use of basic computer applications use English in both written and verbal form use correct spelling grammar and punctuation. Effective communication skills with others and ability to work both as a team and independently. Knowledge of ODE bus driver requirements state and federal laws for pupil transportation. Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures;

Education Required: High school diploma; training or experience in leadership techniques

Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance

with provisions of the Boards Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel
