eCommerce Consultant

This position sits in our Experience & Engineering business unit. We primarily deliver large-scale website design and build projects combining our skills in developing future-ready technical solutions with our expertise in creating beautiful designs to help clients including Nikon London Marathon Events and END. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional and engaging digital experiences.
JOB PURPOSE
Were seeking a strategic and hands-on eCommerce Specialist to help craft modern scalable and high-performing eCommerce solutions for new sales prospects and existing clients. Sitting at the heart of our craft team youll play a key role in shaping enterprise-level commerce solution architecture supporting strategic pre-sales engagements and elevating DEPTs presence as a leader in the digital commerce space.
This role blends client advisory with deep platform and ecosystem understanding. Youll help shape RFP responses pitches and develop strategies while acting as a trusted expert across all stages of solution development. Candidates with brand-side experience particularly those whove navigated complex tech stacks and digital transformation are strongly encouraged to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commerce Strategy & Solution Architecture
- Design and validate end-to-end eCommerce solutions covering everything from storefronts to backend operations and integrations.
- Translate business requirements into architectural recommendations ensuring scalability flexibility and long-term viability.
- Map out solution ecosystems that include eCommerce platforms CMS CDP PIM DAM and other connected technologies.
Full stack knowledge
- Commerce Platforms: High touch understanding of platforms like Shopify Plus Adobe Commerce/Magento BigCommerce Salesforce Commerce Cloud Commerce tools etc.
- PIM (Product Information Management): Understanding of platforms like Akeneo Salsify inRiver etc and their role in product content governance and internationalisation.
- DAM (Digital Asset Management): Experience working with systems like Bynder Content Hub or Adobe AEM Assets to support visual content delivery and consistency.
- iPaaS & Integration Layers: Knowledge of middleware solutions like Mulesoft Boomi Celigo or to connect systems and enable automation.
- Customer Data & Marketing Tools: Familiarity with CDPs (e.g. Segment Adobe etc) marketing automation personalization tools and loyalty platforms.
- Understand how to evaluate recommend and sequence these technologies into cohesive stacks based on client maturity and growth goals.
Client Engagement & Thought Leadership
- Lead discovery workshops support commerce audits and present back solutions in a clear consultative way.
- Guide clients through trade-offs across build vs. buy monolith vs. composable and platform suitability.
- Produce POVs whitepapers or speak on panels to demonstrate thought leadership in digital commerce.
Pitch & New Business Contribution
- Participate in new business pitches by crafting tailored eCommerce strategies designing stack architecture and contributing to proposal writing.
- Work collaboratively with creative UX tech and delivery leads to present a cohesive and compelling response to RFPs.
Internal Capability Building
- Mentor cross-functional team members on commerce best practices and stack strategy.
- Help standardize frameworks decision matrices and solution documentation for broader team enablement.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Proven experience in an eCommerce-focused role ideally having spent time at an in-house brand.
- Strong grasp of both frontend and backend eCommerce architectureincluding storefront UX payments checkout OMS and fulfillment.
- Experience integrating PIM DAM CDPs iPaaS CMS and analytics into a unified digital commerce ecosystem.
- Confidence working across client stakeholder groups from marketers and merchandisers to CTOs and eComm directors.
- Ability to communicate complex technical solutions in plain in a way that resonates with client challenges.
- Familiarity with data privacy internationalisation and scalability considerations in digital commerce.
- Experience with omnichannel and international commerce operations.
- Exposure to composable commerce principles
- Background in DTC retail fashion or CPG
