Program Summary
IRCOs Workforce Development Sector of 45 staff provides culturally appropriate career services and wrap-around supports to immigrants refugees and the community at large so that they can reach their full potential. Career Coach staff provide coaching skills career exploration and career plan development for targeted industries to participants with the goal of securing career track employment and livable wages.


Position Summary
The Future Ready Healthcare program provides skills coaching career planning tuition assistance support services work experience placement and job search assistance to individuals who want to enter a career or continue their education in healthcare professions (such as CNA Medical Assisting Peer Wellness Sterile Processing and Nursing).


As Career Coach this role will be responsible for managing a caseload of approximately 25-30 clients as well as ongoing outreach to Portland Metro area network community members and training providers. This staff member will provide 1-on-1 guidance to participants in creating personalized career plans which may include navigation into paid work experiences short-term training programs and credentialing for healthcare roles. In addition to direct service Career Coach will be responsible for documenting services payments and case notes daily. Career Coach in this program will also provide informational presentations to community members to introduce them to accessible healthcare career pathways.


Essential Functions

  • Provide ongoing outreach and recruitment to culturally and geographically diverse immigrants refugees and the community at large facing barriers to employment who reside throughout the Portland Metro Area
  • Engage participants in Career Planning to identify strengths gifts and capacities develop goals and concrete strategies for addressing barriers to employment.
  • Provide continuous and enhanced life skills training soft skill development and career coaching to help participants build employability and life skills.
  • Assist clients in navigating the credentialing process various healthcare careers.
  • Maintain accurate records data tracking and narratives to reflect project activities.
  • Link eligible and ready clients to other IRCO resources and partner resources.
  • Provide ongoing job search and placement support.
  • Prepare quarterly report on services based on data entry and program activities.
  • Open communication with key partners on participants activities progress and
  • challenges through established systems phone calls emails and regular meetings

  • Attending training and meetings conducted as part of the Future Ready initiative.
  • Participate in staff meetings training and committees to support Future Ready programs and agencys goals.
  • Interacting with staff in other IRCO programs and community partners and referring clients to these parties
  • This position works under the guidance of the Program Coordinator and Workforce Development Sector Manager. This position does not supervise any employees. It will however be asked on occasion to train orient and direct the work of new employees of IRCO
Requirements

Education & Experience

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Detailed oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Oral and written communication skills commensurate with the needs of the position
  • Must have the ability to function in a positive manner in a demanding work environment.
  • Utilize a personal computer read and analyze data in hard copy and on a computer screen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and have the ability to use other software packages including internal and external e-mail/internet.
  • Successfully respond to situations of pressure involving individual circumstances balanced against agency policies and goals.
  • Ability to deal with distressed and/or demanding customers and employees in an effective manner.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Listen to understanding and assist in problem solving.
  • Communicate with a variety of personality types and levels of the organization as well as with people outside of the organization.
  • Must have excellent grammar spelling and writing skills.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups and by telephone.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports.
  • You must be punctual maintain a good attendance record and be able to work flexible hours to meet the availability of participants and customers.
  • Able to use basic office equipment telephone copier fax machine and personal computer.
  • Ability to sit stand walk drive talk on the telephone and/or use PC for long periods of time.
  • You must possess a valid drivers license and verification of current auto-insurance and have full use of automobile during work hours.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous Experience in career coaching advising healthcare or related field highly desired.
  • Strong communication skills in a multilingual multicultural organization
  • Strong ability to work with multi-cultural staff in a team setting
  • Ability to use initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to function in a positive manner in a demanding work environment to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility to respond to priorities and schedules that change frequently and to meet commitments


Physical Mental & Environmental Requirements

  • Hybrid position with travel to IRCOs multi-cultural center locations and to meet clients in the community
  • Positions require some analysis of problems or Decision-making ability
  • Work under close supervision
  • A well protected environment with minimal hazards or obstacles
  • Stable work schedule with no fluctuations

Supervisory Responsibilities
Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers.
