Job Description

Job Title: Data Center Technician

Job Location: Billings MT

Department: Data Center

Reports to: Network Operations Supervisor

Employment Type: Full-Time Non-Exempt

Job Overview: Vision Net Montanas largest data center provider is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for maintaining critical communications technology infrastructure in a fast-paced 24/7 environment ensuring up time reliability and customer satisfaction. Leveraging your exceptional technical acumen and dedicated work ethic you will drive operational excellence through continued process innovation that enhances customer experiences and the Vision Net value proposition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety security environmental and access control protocols are strictly followed.
  • Maintain critical infrastructure at peak performance using key performance measures for electrical mechanical and security systems.
  • Monitor and perform maintenance for AC/DC power systems.
  • Execute emergency procedures and recovery plans to ensure uninterrupted business continuity.
  • Support audits and compliance initiatives as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory work orders and change controls.
  • Install data center equipment racks and structured cabling.
  • Coordinate inventory controls with supply chain management.
  • Execute capital improvement projects and contribute to effective capacity planning.

Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to define prioritize schedule and monitor daily operations of a 24x7 data center environment based on the industrys best practices.
  • Verbal and written communication skills that create trust and foster teamwork.
  • ServiceNow experience is considered a desired skill.
  • Ability to lead and manage projects on time and on budget.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
  • Think analytically and be a problem solver.
  • Ready to take on emerging technologies around Artificial Intelligence.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Information Technology Network Administration or similar technical field. Bachelors degree is preferred.
  • Minimum (3) to (5) years in a data center/telecommunications environment.
  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA A Network or CCNA JNCIA.
  • OSHA 10/30-Hour Certification; NFPA 70E Training.

Any combination of the above requirements or equivalent education will be considered

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • MS Office PowerPoint Word Excel and Visio.
  • Work independently and within a team.
  • Promote the company positively with accurate information.
  • Think analytically and be a problem solver.
  • Organization and work accuracy under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate devotion to Infinite Innovation in data center operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time rotating shifts (weekends evenings overnights holidays).
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
