Job Description

Job Title:High School Instructional Coach

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to: Campus Director

Dept./School: As Assigned

Position Summary:

The substitute prepares educates and coaches students in iSchool Virtual Academy for assigned content areas. Works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized education to meet the needs of all students. If needed subs will hold live sessions work individually with students and host small group sessions if teachers are in meetings or trainings. Communicate daily with parents and students to support students with barriers to success. Support teachers by creating engaging resources.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelors Degree with an academic minor or major (minimum of 18 credit hours) in the core academic subject areas to be taught (Preferred)

  • Texas State Teacher Certification in subject (preferred)

Experience

  • Teaching experience in a Public School is preferred

  • Strong time management communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to understand the individual needs of each student
  • Clear understanding of goal setting for students
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of students parents the administrative staff and Campus Directors
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • General knowledge of ResponsiveEd curriculum and instruction methods (preferred)
  • Ability to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort
  • Acts without being told what to do and brings new ideas to the faculty
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information
  • Demonstrates persistence and willingness to go the distance to get something done for a student.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be detail oriented
  • Maintains stable performance under pressure
  • Generates new and innovative approaches to the classroom or work-related problems
  • Possesses a track record of working hard or a willingness to work hard
  • Possesses listening skills where one seeks to understand other viewpoints
  • Speaks and writes clearly and articulately in all forms of communication including eMail
  • Follows through with verbal and written agreements with students colleagues and administration
  • Solicits feedback and reacts calmly to suggestions
  • Reaches out to peers and cooperates with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship
  • Adjust quickly to changing priorities or conditions

  • Uses varied communication vehicles and opportunities to promote classroom dialogue
  • Proficient computer skills and comfort with technology are necessary as the virtual classroom requires the integration of seamlessly transitioning from multiple platforms and programs



Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide tutoring and instruction to develop the students understanding in assigned content areas.

  • Coach and help students to become familiar with state mandated testing and other assigned testing material.

  • Teach students stress reducing techniques.

  • Allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling.

  • Perform tutorials during and after normal business hours which may include but is not limited to Saturday tutorials.

  • Complete the attendance paperwork

  • Take ownership of the knowledge of students and commit to stretching students cognitive capacities
  • Use accomplished pedagogical expertise to execute lessons aligned to state standards while relating to and anticipating student needs through progress monitoring
  • Use differentiate instruction to personalize learning and proactively minimize confusion or disengagement
  • Deliver instruction to generate further student inquiry to promote problem-solving real-world application and high order thinking
  • Establish an overwhelmingly positive class climate so regardless of what a student may be dealing with personally your classroom is an emotional and social oasis
  • Utilize analytical and reflective method for formal and informal student data
  • Display mutual respect with students while maintaining an emotionally safe and supportive learning environment
  • Partner with special educators to determine the appropriate implementation of accommodations and modifications for specific content standards
  • Comply with the Texas Educator Code of Ethics the ResponsiveEd Employee Handbook the ResponsiveEd Student-Parent Handbook administrative directives and other manuals and procedures documents
  • Serve as a test administrator during all state testing examination windows and district assessment testing as needed; which may require overnight travel. More information listed under Physical / Environmental Factors
