As a Strategy & Planning Director you will join PNCs Enterprise Change Office. This position is based in Pittsburgh PA. Open to considering candidates willing to travel and/or relocate for the position.
This position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely at managers discretion.
The Enterprise Change Office provides a comprehensive approach to planning managing and promoting the end-to-end change process which enables transparency of the risk and value of change using consistent tools standard processes and performance metrics.
The Strategy and Planning Director will be responsible for leading PNCs Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) function and the processes business capabilities and outcomes that aid in ensuring alignment of investments/initiatives to and value delivery towards PNCs strategic goals. The Director of SPM and the SPM team work directly with PNC leadership to ensure that funded and prioritized initiatives programs or projects are aligned to our long-term strategic goals and capability roadmaps. The Director of SPM ensures strategy-to-execution alignment of annual operating plans and multi-year roadmaps across the various PNC business units. The SPM team provides frameworks for standardizing measuring and reporting on initiatives programs and projects ensuring they tie to PNCs broader strategic goals. The SPM Director coordinates with the other business level and product level Portfolio/Program/Project Management teams in PNC to help standardize practices methods and processes ensuring efficient portfolio operations and overall aligned governance to best practices. The Director of SPM ensures a single source of truth for updates to PNC Executive Leadership and the PNC Board as requested.
Primary Responsibilities:
Thought leader and change agent in the establishment of enterprise-wide strategy for unified portfolio initiative program and project management across PNC.
Designs implements and manages processes and policies related to strategic portfolio management. Advises on tool development.
Implements standards and structures to support portfolio development and execution including cross-functional reviews to give line of sight and support coordination across the portfolio of initiatives.
Establishes processes to support and communicate initiative status and progress towards established goals. Provides regular updates on portfolio performance status and value delivery.
Continuously improves portfolio processes to support nimbleness (more timely adjustments improved pace from opportunity identification to action). Establish a rolling model of Demand intake and approval.
Applies best practices for portfolio execution and management and actively demonstrates expertise in enterprise level strategic portfolio and program/project management systems software and aligned tools.
Leads the coordination execution and reporting of portfolio status during the annual operations planning process.
Coordination and alignment with the other portfolio and project management teams to ensure governance through agreement on standards and practices.
Executes change management as needed on transformation work executed by the team.
Job Description
- Leads strategic planning group to execute initiatives including analysis oversight and support for solution development. Works closely with senior leadership to formulate and execute business strategic plans.
- Sets vision to identify strategic plan and/or specific initiatives to achieve business goals.
- Defines monitors and uses metrics to assess performance and continuously improve the line of business. Monitors progress towards goals and recommends modifications to the plan as needed to achieve business objectives. Addresses and resolves breakdowns as necessary to ensure support of strategic initiatives.
- Drives critical business discussions to identify strengths and opportunities and ensures strategic issues are addressed. Provides insight and thought leadership. Leverages strong partnerships with key decision makers to ensure cross-business and cross-functional alignment and synergy.

Work Experience
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree and higher level education such as a Masters degree PhD or certifications. Industry -relevant experience is typically 8 years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. Proven leadership experience with a large scope of responsibility is required. In lieu of a degree a comparable combination of education job specific certification(s) and experience (including military service) may be considered.
