Job Duties

Richard Bland College (RBC) is a two-year residential liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the Tri-Cities regionand its rural setting featuring 750 acres of wetlands bucolic forest and the states oldest and largest pecan grove.

RBC is currently seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Food Service Workers to support our campus dining operations. These individuals will play a key role in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean safe and welcoming dining environment for up to 1000 guests daily.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve breakfast lunch and dinner in a high-volume setting
Open and close the kitchen and cafeteria including equipment setup and breakdown
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas equipment and utensils
Ensure proper care and maintenance of kitchen equipment
Sweep mop and clean common areas to uphold safety and hygiene standards
Collaborate with team members college staff and vendors to resolve issues and improve service
Assist with catering and special events as needed
Knowledge of safe food handling practices and attention to detail in food presentation
Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse community of students faculty staff and guests
Commitment to the mission and vision of Richard Bland College
Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of food preparation and operation including the operation of modern food service equipment proper sanitation practices and federal and state health and nutrition requirements
Must have experience in restaurant or food service operations and applications supporting high food quality
Must be able to work in fast-paced environment to meet food preparation and food serving schedules for large numbers of individual patrons/customers and groups
High School Diploma
Ability to routinely bend walk and stoop
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 20 lbs
Ability to stock inventory and rotate products

Serve-Safe certification or currently obtaining certification
