Job Description

Thorpe Elementary School seeks an excellent Physical Education & Wellness Teacher. We are looking for ateacher who is committed to reaching all students raising achievement through a rigorous andrelevant curriculum and supporting a school culture of excellence and joyful employee is a member of our Health & Wellness team. This position involves teaching Health and Physical Education classes grades K-5.Reports To: Thorpe School PrincipalAnticipated start date for this position will be August 27 2025The Physical Education & Wellness Teacher will be responsible for the following in addition to other duties as assigned by their primary supervisor:
Working with and for Students:

Aligning curricular standards with state guidelines

Promoting health and wellness initiatives within the school and community

Documenting annual unit and lesson plans correlated to state standards

Monitoring student progress through standards-based assessments

Analyzing student data

Differentiating instruction

Supporting planning and community projects

Input academic and behavioral data on the school data management system

Analyze student data and monitor student progress through standards-based assessmentsWorking with and for Families:

Participate in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

Communicate regularly with families about academic and social progress

Working with and for Colleagues

Build and maintain a strong school culture centered on student achievement

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school mission

Participate in professional development sessions

Participate in grade-level team meetings

Inputting academic and behavioral data into the school data management systemQualifications:

Belief in the mission and vision of DPS and Thorpe Elementary school

Relentless commitment to raising the academic achievement of all students

Commitment to standards-based teaching and learning

Ability to provide a structured orderly safe and respectful environment for students

Excitement about integrating academics with community work.

Interest in working collaboratively to improve instruction for all students
