Compensation: $25 per hour

Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Assistant plays a key role in supporting CIRIs outreach and visibility efforts. This part-time position is responsible for maintaining up-to-date digital and printed content coordinating with traditional media and ensuring that the organization presents a consistent and compelling public image. The ideal candidate is highly organized a skilled communicator and familiar with digital media tools and marketing practices in the nonprofit sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the CIRI website with current information on staff programs events and CIRI in the News media coverage.
  • Manage and regularly update the CIRI blog with relevant stories news and program highlights.
  • Assist with the creation of engaging content for social media platforms (e.g. Facebook Instagram LinkedIn).
  • Maintain and update the organizations media contact list.
  • Order and maintain inventory of marketing and communication materials including brochures pamphlets and branded swag items.
  • Assemble and distribute outreach kits/packages for CIRI staff involved in external engagement activities.
  • Manage and maintain the outreach tracking database.
  • Support the creation and distribution of event invitations newsletters and other communications as needed.
  • Collect photos and stories from staff clients volunteers etc. to use for CIRI communications.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree preferred
  • Experience in marketing communications public relations or nonprofit outreach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with website CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress) social media tools and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with a creative and proactive mindset

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with graphic design or content creation tools (e.g. Canva Adobe)
  • Knowledge of nonprofit communications best practices
  • Interest in immigration refugee resettlement and social justice work

Work Environment

  • Part-time flexible schedule (approximately 25 hours per week)
  • Hybrid work environment available based on organizational needs
  • Occasional attendance at events or outreach activities may be required
