Job Description
Job Title: Steel Fitter
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret structural steel fabrication and assembly drawings blueprints and technical documents.
Fit align and install structural steel components such as beams columns braces and frames.
Mark reference points for layout and assembly using tools such as straightedges squares and levels.
Measure cut and prepare steel materials using hand tools and cutting equipment.
Perform tack welding or bolting as needed to assemble parts in preparation for final welding or installation.
Ensure components are positioned and aligned correctly before permanent installation.
Collaborate with welders fabricators and engineers to ensure correct installation.
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet project specifications and safety standards.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Essential Qualifications:
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Fitting Fabrication or a related technical field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Steel Fitter in the construction fabrication or manufacturing industry.
Experience with structural steel installation is preferred.
Skills & Competencies Required:
Proficiency in using measuring tools (tape calipers squares).
Strong understanding of steel types tolerances and fabrication processes.
Ability to interpret fabrication/shop drawings and structural plans.
Basic welding and grinding knowledge is a plus.
Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
Ability to work at heights and in challenging environments.
Strong focus on safety and quality.
Team player with effective communication skills.
