Job Description

Job Description Summary
The International Student Support Mentors serves as a vital bridge between the Office of Student Development and Learning Resources and our diverse international student community. This role combines administrative support responsibilities with meaningful cultural ambassadorship helping international students navigate academic social and cultural aspects of university life while supporting the director in program development and implementation

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Ambassador Duties (60%) Serve as a primary point of contact and mentor for newly arrived international students Facilitate cross-cultural communication and understanding between international and domestic students Lead orientation sessions and workshops specifically designed for international students Organize and participate in cultural exchange events and programming Provide peer-to-peer guidance on academic expectations campus resources and cultural adaptation Collaborate with international student organizations to identify needs and develop targeted support initiatives Share personal experiences and insights to help students overcome common challenges faced by international students Administrative Support (40%) Assist the Director with program planning coordination and evaluation Maintain databases and records related to international student engagement and outcomes Prepare materials and resources for workshops orientations and events Coordinate scheduling for international student meetings and programs Support communication efforts through social media newsletters and informational materials Assist with research on best practices for international student support services Provide general administrative support as needed

Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled as an international student at the university (preferred) or demonstrated deep understanding of international student experience Minimum GPA of 3.0 Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations Cultural sensitivity and awareness of challenges faced by international students Proficiency in additional languages highly preferred Experience in leadership mentoring or peer support roles preferred Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
