ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May take the resident to the dining room
Prepare food for eating
Serve food
Prepare the resident for the meal to include positioning and hand hygiene
Provide encouragement and conversation during the meal
Prepare food such as by cutting the meat so that the resident may self-feed
Assist a resident as he or she drinks a beverage
In some cases feed the resident
Take the resident back to the bed room or to another area of the facility as directed.
Record food and fluid intake and report all findings to the charge nurse or designee
Communicates effectively with Charge Nurse regarding residents needs and requests
Assists in transporting residents to and from dining rooms
Encourages residents to perform and participate in the ADL of feeding and remains alert for resident safety throughout the meal process and clean up.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures objectives quality assurance program safety environmental and infection control standards. Promotes adherence to the residents Bill of Rights
Understands and adheres to the medical Centers Code of Conduct.
Familiar with the Medical Centers Mission Vision and Values Statements
RESIDENTS RIGHTS
Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information
Ensures they knock on the door before entering the resident room
Ensure that all feeding personnel are knowledgeable of the residents responsibilities and rights including the right to refuse to eat.
Reports such requests to the Nurse Manager or her designee
Allows the Resident to participate in any aspect of the feeding process.
Participates in CQI activities as assigned
Assist other personnel when needed as it relates to the meal time

All patient care areas: contact with residents visitors and staff
Works in residents rooms and common rooms example dining rooms
Must be constantly alert for resident safety
Communicates with nursing personnel
Frequently prolonged sitting standing walking
Positions and pushes residents
Protective clothing worn: Face shield gloves
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.
