Job Description

AECOM is seeking an industry leading Water/Wastewater Engineer - Deputy Project Manager to join our SWIFT Program Management Team to support delivery of multiple SWIFT projects throughout the Hampton Roads area. The qualified applicant will have project management experience utilizing a collaborative project delivery platform and must be familiar with the design construction and operation of water wastewater and/or water reuse treatment and conveyance infrastructure.  The position includes large project planning and design schedule/budget management in an interesting and rewarding Program Management work environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to communicate effectively with project team members across multiple organizations have a high level of initiative and motivation to deliver quality results have strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to provide value-added solutions and maintain strong relationships.

AECOMs Full-Scale Implementation Program (FSIP) team is responsible for lifecycle project management of the SWIFT program.


Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer in Virginia or ability to obtain reciprocity within six (6) months of hire.
  • Experience with both design-bid-build and alternative delivery procurement options for projects at water/wastewater treatment plants with capacities greater than 10 mgd.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex project related problems and provides engineering support.
  • Experience in coordination with Virginia regulatory agencies.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review.
  • Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 years of relevant experience with 3 years of demonstrated project management experience.
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering or Management 
  • Project Management Professional or training in project management.
  • DBIA or Associate DBIA certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Expected to communicate regularly with stakeholders in writing one-on-one and in meetings.
  • The ability to work well in a team-oriented and inclusive Program Management Organization culture.
