The Specialist Building Automation Systems supports the delivery and coordination of sustainability initiatives on campus and in the community. This role assists in the execution of programs focused on environmental sustainability biodiversity energy use waste reduction and climate resilience as well as social sustainability including equity diversity and inclusion (EDI) gender equity and overall health and well-being in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Specialist Building Automation Systemspromotes participation in sustainability initiatives through communications and events while providing essential administrative support for scheduling reporting and documentation. Through their contributions the Coordinator helps advance UFVs sustainability goals reduce its environmental footprint and foster a culture of sustainability across the campus community.

Criteria for eligibility for this partially fundedpositionis below:
Between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive)
Be Canadian Citizens Permanent Residents or Protected Persons as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
Not currently in school;
Self identifies as Indigenous youth living with a disability or a woman or a racialized youth or a youth who are living in a Northern or Remote community;
Be legally entitled to work in Canada; and
Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Degree in Building Controls & Energy Management electrical electronics controls mechatronics mechanical engineering or a related field.
Three (3) years experience in building automation systems and/or implementing energy-efficient solutions.
Solid understanding of building automation systems and energy management practices.
Hands-on experience with at least one BAS platform (e.g. entelliWeb Johnson Controls or similar).
Experience with HVAC lighting control systems and energy monitoring software.
Ability to troubleshoot and adjust Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
Familiarity with interpreting control logic and making program changes to optimize building systems performance.
Preferred knowledge and familiarity with IT network concepts ie. Ethernet ports IP settings) is an asset.
Knowledge of building codes energy conservation standards and sustainability practices.
Ability to review and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings equipment schedules and energy study reports of various levels of detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with facilities staff and contractors.
Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time.
Proficiency in various PC based software (MS Excel Word PowerPoint etc.).
Preferred knowledge of renewable energy or climate adaptation initiatives and experience with ISO:50001 Energy Management Systems.
