Job Summary
The Unit Service Technician provides a broad range of care and services to Patients including but not to limited to EKG phlebotomy equipment cleaning and stocking of rooms under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Performs a wide range of secretarial duties including but not limited to organizing paper work answering the phone paging and receiving of Emergency Department patients into the medi-tech computer system. Provides safe accurate transportation of patients throughout the hospital. Performs 1:1 sitting when necessary. The Unit Service Technician of the Emergency Department will also assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support BLS - Generic - HR Only required and Certified Nurse Aide CNA - State Specific Certification Board required or Emergency Medical Technician EMT License - Generic - HR Only required
Experience
ICU: 1 year experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- ICU: Staff adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards Basic clerical skills such as organizing paperwork filing answering telephones paging Performing technical skills (EKG Accucheck phlebotomy) Ability to effectively speak read and write using the English language Ability to pass clinical competency basic math and reading testing Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements to measure height and weight intake and output and calorie counts Ability to accurately interpret and utilize basic medical terminology and abbreviations Ability to enter and retrieve computerized information Physical ability to push transfer and pull heavy loads throughout assigned shift Physical ability to meet core job requirements in accordance with practice setting demands for the patient populations regularly served Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with nursing staff patients families/visitors physicians and other hospital staff Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work Ability to manage stress related to patient care issues and changing hospital climate and personnel issues.
