Plans organizes and conducts arts-based activities in order to promote the positive benefits of creativity and to enhance the clinic/hospital experience.Job Description
Practice of patient/resident-centered activities with respect to effects on the body and mind during course of disease and treatment with particular attention to patient/resident capacity to engage in activities. Accommodates activities to meet participants skill level and personal preference to create a range of experiences and products based on technical knowledge and supplemental knowledge regarding benefits of creativity and the Arts in Healthcare. Works with a range of ages from children through geriatrics range in participant ability and varying reason for needing healthcare although will primarily work with a cancer diagnosis. Works in multiple areas as far as location of practice. Works directly with patients/residents their family caregivers staff and peers. Works as contributing member of a team of professionals. Participates in arts programs and support activities. Theories of practice and activities offered based on current literature and studies which have yielded results within this specific demographic: Oncology the Creative Arts and Arts in Healthcare.Qualifications
Must have a bachelors degree in one of the following: fine arts counseling social work mental health or psychology with a minor in fine arts. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive study in the arts or mental health disciplines.
