Job Description

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity in our Canberra team for a junior Administration Assistant/Office Manager to join on a full-time basis. Located within a stones throw of City Hill our Canberra office is home to a large team of lawyers heavily committed to the Commonwealth and the Governments operations.

In this role you will be supporting our team with a range of administrative and office support tasks whilst also gaining on-the-job mentoring training and development.

This opportunity will be well suited to a diligent customer-centric individual who enjoys working collaboratively and wants to start or progress in an administrative career.

The role

Our ideal candidate will have an element of transferable customer focused experience and is looking for an entry level position to gain experience in legal practice and office management. Teamwork attention to detail and professionalism will be essential in this role as you will be responsible under supervision by senior legal assistants for supporting our legal team and assisting with general office tasks.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Office support tasks as required.
  • Preparing basic legal documents and correspondence.
  • Preparing and issuing monthly tax invoices.
  • Receipting and payments.
  • Filing documents with the Courts.
  • Scheduling meetings and organising calendars.
  • Diary management.
  • File management saving emails and correspondence to files.
  • Directing telephone enquiries.
  • Opening new files and undertaking conflict searches.
  • Archiving files.
  • Mailing out documents.

Role requirements

As this is a junior role we recognise you may not have prior experience. What is more important to us is your teamwork high level of attention to detail motivation and commitment to learning.

In addition you will:

  • Be a self-starter but also thrives in a collaborative work environment.
  • Be confident in building lasting relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft 365 suite as well as a natural flair for technology.

Due to the nature of our legal work Australian Citizenship is a requirement for the position.
