Kitchen Assistant
Job Description
Reports to: Nutrition Specialist Direct Reports: None FLSA Classification: Non-exempt Pay: $16.45 - $18.45
Summary The Kitchen Assistant supports food production kitchen safety and sanitation for the YWCAs child care programs. Responsibilities include preparing snacks and meals serving food to children washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen. This role assists the Kitchen Supervisor and Nutrition Specialist as needed. This position is full-time 40 hours a week year-round.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Food preparation
- Washing dishes
- Cleaning the kitchen
- Stocking the food
- Delivering food to classrooms as required
- Communicate needs from teachers to cook staff and back as needed
- Wash dishes and clean kitchen equipment and surfaces daily
- Under the direction of the Nutrition Specialist follow all protocols for sanitation both in preparation of food and clean-up of the kitchen and dishes
- Assume other responsibilities as may be appropriate for the position
- Mop and sweep kitchen floor after each meal
- Remove trash after every meal
- Responsible for receiving and unloading delivered items from food service provider under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: The employee will work in extreme heat and/or cold stand for several hours per day work with cleaning compounds occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects or boxes up to 50 lbs come in contact with children and be exposed to childhood illnesses.
