Job Description
Hiring Range $15.50-16.80hour
Please note that this position is a seasonal position that works during the traditional school year and has summers off.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Outreach Dental Assistant General Description
The Outreach Dental Assistant will conduct and assist in all outreach activities in a timely fashion to ensure outreach dental services are performed. This position is also responsible for providing patient education regarding oral health.

Outreach Dental Assistant Essential Duties
- Perform duties associated with dental outreach services.
- Assist with driving to outreach locations in company vehicle; with a willingness to drive during inclement weather i.e. rain snow wind etc. If the company vehicle is not available may have to drive own vehicle to outreach locations; will get reimbursed for mileage.
- Assist hygienist at facility as needed;
- Sterilize dental instruments and equipment for each patient;
- Organize and lay out instruments for hygienists to use;
- Hand instruments and other materials to hygienist during procedures;
- Use suction and swabs to keep patients mouths clear and dry during procedures;
- Chart according to protocol;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Outreach Dental Assistant Skills Required
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff patients and the public.
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to provide appropriate efficient and quality patient care.
- Ability to anticipate and react calmly in emergency situations.
- Willingness to educate patients and the community in oral healthcare and the role of the dental care team.
- Effective and efficient time management.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgement.
Outreach Dental Assistant Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Graduation from a Dental Assisting Program preferred but not required;
- Previous experience as a dental assistant preferred but not required;
- Must have and maintain CPR certification;
- Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient and employee-base.
