Where You Will Work
Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing (CAM) is the primary division of StanleyBlack & Decker Aerospace. We are a leading innovator and strategic partner in the manufacturing of fasteners fittings and engineered products for theaerospace defense and industrial markets. CAM is currently comprised of nine subsidiaries across the United States split among three segments.
Job Summary:
The Inspector/NDT Apprentice under the direction of a Level 2 or Level 3 NDT Inspector will perform the required inspections on product to assure compliance to CAMs Quality System Specifications and Customer requirements for Industrial and Military/Aerospace products.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow general inspection guidelines to conduct non-route visual dimensional mechanical and functional inspections on a wide variety of components assemblies and materials.
Maintains inspection records and documentation in accordance with government customer and Company standards.
Assists Quality Assurance during internal audits and customer audits as needed.
Inspects incoming materials by confirming product meets drawings and specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; documenting and communicating rejections of unacceptable items.
Inspects in-process production by confirming product meets applicable drawings and specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; documenting and communicating required corrections.
Inspects finished products by confirming product meets drawings and specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; documenting and communicating required corrections and ensuring defective product is not delivered to the customer.
Inspect (once trained/certified) details subcomponents and finished products in required NDT methods. Specifically FPI Computed Radiography Eddy Current Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection.
Review contracts purchase orders drawings routings shop instructions and other planning for quality requirements.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Must be proficient using hand measuring instruments (micrometers calipers height gages optical comparator etc.)
Must be proficient or capable of learning and applying the principles of GD&T for blueprint / model interpretation and acceptance activities.
Must be proficient or capable of learning to read engineering and manufacturing drawings.
Must be capable of learning assigned NDT method(s). Specifically FPI Computed Radiography Eddy Current Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection.
Must be capable of learning to conduct First Article In-Process Final inspections and record results to include generating utilizing AS9102 FAIR format.
Experience with Quality Management System principles ISO9001: 2008 AS 9100D etc.
Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions on how to inspect process and disposition aerospace components as applicable parts.
Follow established procedures and part specific techniques.
Successfully perform calibrations tests and evaluations with NDT equipment.
Must be organized have good basic math skills good analytical skills and be very conscientious of detailed requirements.
Ability to learn and gain Knowledge of AS9100D AS13100 ISO9001 ASTM and NAS-410 standards.
Participate in Corrective Action processes including containment plans root cause analysis corrective countermeasures and providing objective evidence for verification / closure.
Accurately document the results of inspections and issue Certificates of Conformance.
Maintain and archive controlled document files and records in a timely and accurate manner.
Provide feedback on the quality aspects of parts and assemblies to QA and Production.
