Job Description

PART TIME - 21hrs

3 or 4 days over weekdays. including one early morning or evening per week to be agreed with the successful candidate Role can be flexible in how hours are delivered over 3 or more days remote working post or can be based in our central office in Fareham.

As our Clinical/Counselling Psychologist you will play a pivotal role in supporting frontline staff who work with clients facing homelessness mental and physical health challenges substance misuse trauma and social exclusion. You will report the executive director of client services and work closely with our regional directors and human resources manager.

Staff Support & Consultation

  • Provide a consultation service for support staff and managers working directly and indirectly with clients at risk of homelessness and complex needs.
  • Offer group reflective practice sessions and individual support to prevent staff burnout and reduce vicarious trauma.
  • Facilitate debriefs after incidents to help staff process events manage emotions and build resilience

Leadership

  • Provide a coaching style of leadership that empowers staff to reflect make decisions and creatively address challenges.
  • Inspire and motivate colleagues providing reassurance and guidance in difficult situations.

Relationship Building

  • Develop effective working relationships with internal colleagues to enhance service quality.
  • Share practice recommendations with the Director of Client Services.
  • Maintain confidential supportive environments for staff accessing the Psychology Service.
  • Raise the organisations profile regionally and nationally within and beyond the sector.

Performance management

  • Collect and deliver accurate key performance data and outcome data for internal audiences
  • Ensure organisational values approaches and culture are consistently demonstrated

Personal and professional development

  • Attend clinical supervision sessions and engage in ongoing professional learning

The role will deliver the following key outcomes:

  • staff feel better supported in the workplace
  • staff feel more resilient
  • staff feel safe in their workplace
  • clients feel that staff are supporting them effectively

No job role profile can be entirely comprehensive and the post holder will be required to undertake additional duties from time to time in line with the above responsibilities as required by executive director of client services or the executive team.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society or British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist or a counselling psychologist

Experience

  • Experience of having successfully undertaken a similar role and a background of work within the sector
  • Experience of working with people who have substance misuse and complex trauma
  • Experience of evidence based therapeutic interventions including (one or more of) Systemic Therapy Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Positive Behaviour Support Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
  • Experience of coaching staff effectively
  • Experience of multi-site and remote management of services and people including delivering psychology sessions to teams and individuals using Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to work with IT based records produce reports and monitor KPIs
  • Experience of working collaboratively with staff.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of homelessness mental health and substance misuse
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice in relation to mental health and safeguarding
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults and young people
  • Knowledge of psychologically informed environments and trauma informed care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build productive internal networks and partnerships
  • Ability to prioritise work tasks
  • Good written skills
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly
