About the Opportunity
This exciting position is ideally suited to an individual with an educational background in accounting or bookkeeping who has a strong aptitude for numbers and is looking to build a career in insurance. Youll be joining Interruption Underwriting Agencies (IUA) a specialist agency within the Steadfast Underwriting Agencies Group focused on Business Interruption Insurance.
As an Assistant Underwriter you will support underwriting operations and broker relationships contributing to a high-performing and collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new business renewals and endorsements within your authority level and in accordance with company procedures.
- Prepare premium quotations aligned with prescribed rate increases and applicable excesses.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders including our national broker network and strategic partners.
- Assist in maintaining and developing strong broker relationships.
- Support internal teams with underwriting queries and documentation.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong numerical aptitude; background in accounting or bookkeeping preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Constructive goal-driven working style with strong initiative.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
- Highly organised and adaptable to change.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
