Maintenance Technician III
Summary: This position will physically operate and maintain the buildings equipment and grounds so that they provide the finest possible non-verbal presentation of the gospel. A maintenance technician III will have five or more maintenance skill focus areas of plumbing electrical mechanical carpentry or equipment repair.
Essential Duties:SupervisionOffer leadership and direction to those workers assigned to you.Supervise staff whom the site and facilities superintendent may assign to you both summer and winter. This includes full and part-time camping staff in addition to maintenance summer staff work crew volunteers and other people who may be assisting with a maintenance or project function of the property.At all times maintain a pleasant positive attitude toward staff and others involved in the program conveying the idea of maximum service consistent with the capabilities of the property and equipment.Work closely with the work crew and summer staff bosses in making the work experience a positive time of personal growth for the individuals that have volunteered their time at the property.Reports Record Keeping and Maintaining a BudgetMaintain operating records as required by the site and facilities superintendent.Operation and Maintenance ResponsibilitiesPossess a basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.Responsible for maintaining and operating two or more specific equipment or areas as designated by the site and facilities superintendent.Essential Duties (continued):Demonstrate an understanding of all camp physical plant systems.Operate and maintain camp property in a manner consistent with the instructions received from the site and facilities superintendent and the camping manager.GoalsWork toward the specific implementation of individual camping goals as outlined yearly.Maintain a list of maintenance projects and capital projects to be undertaken as time and money become available; communicate the needs reflected in these lists to the site and facilities superintendent for budgeting and scheduling.RelationshipsWork closely with the site and facilities superintendent guest services coordinator and assigned staff on all matters involving use of the property for the program.Cooperate with all other departments on the property to operate as a team and produce a well functioning body.Relate to the local community in a manner best suited to carry out the public relations policy of Young Life as presented by the camping manager.Working Conditions:Must be capable of spending most of the workday standing or walking.Must be adaptable to all work environments inside and out.Must be capable of working on projects over/above head as well as bending kneeling crawling in/around attics crawl spaces etc.Capable of digging shoveling and raking various compounds.Education:High school diploma or GEDAble and willing to obtain certifications in any plant systemExperience Required For The Job:Ability to organize and supervise people and tasks.
General knowledge of multiple plant systems.Some experience in most of the construction trades.Good attitude and willingness to learn.Must have a positive flexible attitude.Physically able to do the work.Note: Young Life is a relational ministry. Job Specific Working Conditions:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain Level II drinking water treatment plant and Level 1 drinking water distribution system
- Operate and maintain Level 1 wastewater collection system and Level 1 wastewater treatment system
- Operation maintenance troubleshooting and repair of a wide range of system components (pumps valves hydrants controls chemical feed etc.)
- Perform required daily data collection and system checks
- Perform leak detection and repair of underground piping systems
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on system equipment
- Use maps drawings and locating tools to perform underground utility locates
- Operate a wide range of hand tools power tools and heavy equipment properly and safely
- Handle and use water treatment chemicals properly and safely
- Capable of lifting 50 lb. and working outside in any conditions
- Capable of working independently or with other team members
- Operation and maintenance of commercial swimming pools
- Other duties as assigned
Certifications
Required
- Valid Drivers License
- High School Diploma or GED
- Oregon Level 2 Drinking Water Treatment certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- Oregon Level 1 Drinking Water Distribution certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months
Preferred (not required)
- Oregon Level 1 Wastewater Collections certification
- Oregon Level 1 Wastewater Distribution certification
