Job Description

  • Degree in Business Administration Public Policy Computer Science Data Science Statistics Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related analytical field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis business intelligence or a related analytical role
  • Experience must include complex data collection analysis interpretation and presenting findings to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated experience leading or significantly contributing to projects focused on business process improvement or system implementation
  • Proven proficiency with SQL GIS (e.g. ESRI) and Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI)

Assets:

  • Certifications in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI) Geographic Information Systems (e.g. ESRI) Project Management (e.g. CAPM PMP) or Business Analysis (e.g. CBAP)
  • Specific training or experience with EFRS records and reporting systems (e.g. Deccan ADAM BeeOn CAD RMS) or related systems
  • Experience in a government or public safety role

  • Strong research data analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform statistical analysis and data modeling
  • Excellent project management coordination and process improvement skills
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills with a talent for translating complex technical information for non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop compelling reports and interactive dashboards using advanced data visualization techniques
  • Ability to think critically to recommend viable and effective solutions
  • A collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal and team-building skills

Salary Range: $46.086-$58.232 Hourly $96227.570 - $121588.420 Annually

Salary ranges are in the process of being updated in accordance with the recently ratified collective agreement between the City and CSU 52 or IBEW and will be forthcoming shortly.

As the Public Safety Business & Data Analyst you will play a key role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. You will be responsible for managing and supporting EFRS software records and reporting systems using your expertise in business analysis data analysis and GIS to inform strategic and operational decisions. A major part of your role will involve leading projects aimed at enhancing service delivery and finding efficiencies. You will collect analyze and interpret complex data to make recommendations on everything from key performance indicators and resource deployment to strategic planning and community risk assessment. Working collaboratively with a variety of partners you will be a subject matter expert whose work directly aligns with the EFRS strategic goals and the Fire Rescue Master Plan.
