Under the direction of the Administrative Director Cardiovascular Services the Medical Director of Electrophysiology Lab and the Manager of Invasive Cardiovascular Services the Electrophysiology Registered Nurse will perform duties necessary for caring for patients undergoing electrophysiology cardiac rhythm management and select structural heart procedures at a technical and professional level. Under direct supervision of the physician in the electrophysiology lab the RN will provide pre intra and post procedural care. They will assist with a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement. The RN will provide procedural care for patients ages 18 years old and up undergoing Electrophysiology CRM and select Structural Heart procedures in the electrophysiology lab.
Education
Graduate from a state accredited school of Nursing. Bachelors in nursing preferred
Certification Registration & Licensure
Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification or equivalent course credentialed by AHA
ACLS within 3 months of hire
RCIS or RCES preferred within 2 years of hire and renewed as required
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of NH
Experience
1-2 years cardiovascular experience preferred.
Electrophysiology experience preferred
Responsibilities
Gathers data through history taking and physical assessment and interprets data in order to plan implement and evaluate interventions to meet patient care needs
Administers medications within scope of practice in the State of NH
Delivers pre and post procedural care to patients according to hospital policy including but not limited to specific EP prep and set up
Delivers intra procedural care in the role of circulator.
Delivers intra procedural care effectively and safely in the role of scrub if cross trained.
Delivers intra procedural care in the role of monitor.
Bases nursing actions by applying principles of purposeful organized thinking to make sound clinical judgement/decisions.
Teaches the patient and/or significant other(s) about the plan of care. Prepares patients to manage their care after discharge.
Takes ownership and responsibility for individual performance goals.
Assists with clinical training and competencies in adherence with lab protocols.
Involves self in departmental team and committee goals.
Completes departmental and hospital requirements.
Assist with use maintenance and trouble shooting of EP specific equipment.
Performs duties including surgical scrubbing if cross trained hemodynamic monitoring and documentation of procedure.
Will participate in the set up and operation of the various equipment required for procedure including but not limited to the mapping systems Intra cardiac Echo 12 Lead EKG defibrillators.
Assist with Electrophysiology Cardiac Rhythm Management and select Structural Heart diagnostic and or interventional procedures in accordance with departmental standards and within the scope of practice.
Complete documentation of patient care and procedure
Maintains a level of productivity adaptability flexibility and efficiency in managing workload to meet patient care and department needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
