Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians as well as other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care.

Performs general nursing care to patients.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic.
Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures treatments examinations and testing of patients.
Observes records and reports patients condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to provider.
Oversees appointment scheduling and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.Maintains timely flow of patients.
Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination.Screens patients for appropriate information including obtaining the health history taking vitals and conducting a nursing assessment.Documents obtained information in patient chart.Instructs patient in collection of samples and tests.
Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician.
Educates patients and families about diagnostic process medications nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.
Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials.Ensures cleanliness.Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
Assures appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol as needed.Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.

Job Summary
Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care for clinic patients following established standards practices and competency.Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems.Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customers status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
Essential Job Functions
Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
Provides accurate completed legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
Maintains timely flow of patients.
Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.Responsible for assisting with patient and family education to include procedures medication use nutrition disease processes and maintenance of health and wellness etc. based on competency.
Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs.
Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials.Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance.Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy.Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste.
Provided back-up help for front desk personnel.This may include answering telephone scheduling and cancelling appointments and scheduling consult patients.
Graduate of Medical Assistant program or diploma
Preferred
License/Certification/Registration
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and Medical Assistant diploma required upon hire
or
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with one year of experienceupon hire required
or
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)upon hire required
or
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) upon hire required
Day shifts: occasional Urgent Care wknd/hol rotation ; 72hrs/2wks. Typically have Friday afternoons off.
