About Hood College
Founded in 1893 Hood College is a Liberal Arts College of about 2100 students. It is located in the center of historic Frederick Maryland a city of about 80000. The 50-acre campus consists of about 1300 undergraduate students. Position Summary
Hood College invites applications for an adjunct position in Political Science beginning January 2026. Hood College offers an undergraduate major and minor in political science. The programs are housed in the Politics Law and Global Studies department.
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Teaching/Facilitation
Teach Public Policy a required 3-credit course for the major plus one elective course of the candidates choosing during the spring 2026 semester.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
A Masters Degree or PhD in Political Science or a related discipline is required by the time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to teaching. A cover letter should address the candidates previous experience and preparedness to teach in political science.
Preferred Skills and Characteristics
Technology Skills
Proficient in MS Office tools (Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint) e-mail and the Internet. Ability to learn new applications quickly including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications.
Language Skills
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from students and colleagues.
Compensation
The compensation for this temporary undergraduate teaching position is $3180 per three-credit course of instruction. Hood College has provided a compensation amount representing its good-faith estimate of what the College may pay for the position at the time of posting. The College may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation. This temporary position is not benefits-eligible except for participation in Hoods Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) plan and paid Maryland sick leave. Learn more about Hood College.
