Washburn Center for Children is a leading childrens mental health center caring for a wide variety of childrens needs associated with anxiety depression behavioral difficulties and trauma.
The 142-year-old nonprofit offers critical mental health intervention to help children - and their families - realize hope. Washburn Center for Children serves nearly 4800 children ages 0-18 and approximately 11000 family members each year. Washburn Centers three office locations Brooklyn Park Edina and Minneapolis serve the entire Twin Cities metro area. The nonprofit also offers in-home services and its school-based program serves 55 schools in the Eden Prairie Bloomington District 191 Columbia Heights and Minneapolis school districts.

Summary
The School-Based Therapist at Lionsgate Academy provides comprehensive mental health assessment treatment and prevention services to students and their families. This role includes direct billable services as well as non-billable consultation training and early intervention/prevention services for school staff and caregivers. The therapist will participate in team meetings data collection and coordination efforts in partnership with both Washburn Center and school staff to support student success.
This position is based within Lynx Lionsgates specialized program serving a diverse population of students in grades 712 with significant social emotional and behavioral needs who require individualized special education services in a more restrictive environment. Lynx comprises two programs:
Center-Based Program serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) significant developmental and cognitive delays and communication disorders/delays.
BASE Program serving students with ASD and Emotional Behavioral Disorders who also have significant mental health needs.
Responsibilities
Clinical Treatment - Clinicians will provide a combination of the following school-based services within the school clients homes and across the community as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor including:
* Conduct diagnostic assessments
* Develop and implement a treatment plan with the family based on a diagnosis
* Provide individual group and family therapy
* Participate in IEP meetings
* Care coordination including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
* Create a discharge plan
All school-based clinicians will be expected to maintain monthly services consistent with budgeted client service expectations.
Ancillary Services - Clinicians will also provide ancillary services as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor including:
* Conduct child group therapy skills training and/or prevention groups
* Provide care coordination including collaboration with parents school staff and other agencies
* Participate in classroom observations
* Provide teacher consultation and training
* Attend collaboration and planning meetings with school staff program directors and grant coordinators to review the status of the program and manage referrals in order to facilitate program development and the coordination of the program at the school
Documentation - Clinicians will be expected to maintain required documentation as specified in our Clinical Policy Manual including:
* Diagnostics assessments
* Treatment plan for each client
* Daily progress notes
* Completion of screening instruments (SDQ) and any other required outcome instruments
* Discharge summaries
* Timely record keeping of all clinical activities and grant related services as defined
* Timely response of communications from the program director the supervisor or program support to ensure clear communication throughout the program
All clinicians are to ensure Minnesota and HIPAA data privacy requirements are followed.
Supervision and Professional Development - Clinicians are expected to:
* Attend weekly supervision and team meetings present case information and formulation and identify questions for team meetings and supervision
* Receive regular clinical supervision as required under Rule 29
* Provide clinical and administrative supervision for interns as approved by the program supervisor based on licensure and experience and assist with providing training feedback and learning experience for program interns
* Maintain required CEUs including first aid and CPR certification
Required technical skills knowledge and abilities
* Demonstrate knowledge of cultural diversity and the role of culture in the therapeutic process
* Adaptable to multiple workplace cultures
* Ability to work independently
* Understand when to ask questions
Qualifications
- Masters degree in psychology marriage and family therapy or social work required
- Doctoral degree in psychology marriage and family therapy or social work desired
- 3 years of experience assessing and treating children and families required
- 3 years of experience assessing and treating children and families desired
- Valid MN Licensure as a Mental Health Professional required
$60000 - $75000 a year

Vacation: Paid Vacation accrues at 10 hours of vacation per month - up to 15 days / 120 hours annually.
Sick Leave: Paid sick leave accrues at 6.68 hours of sick per month - up to 10 days / 80 hours.
Holidays: There are 2.5 days/20 hours of floating holidays per year in addition to the eight standard holidays.
