Job Description

With operations in California Oregon and Pennsylvania we manufacture softwood and hardwood lumber particleboard and hardboard siding.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the President and CEO the Chief Financial Officer oversees and manages the financial strategy and operations of the company. This leader of a multi-company organization provides strategic guidance consultation and support for optimizing business performance through effective finance and accounting systems development implementation and maintenance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Embrace and advance Collins Core Purpose and Core Values.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies and plans that align with the overall goals and objectives of the company.
    • Optimize treasury functions of the company ensuring effective cash management activities.
    • Monitor financial performance by evaluating trends and establishing critical measurements of business performance.
    • Analyze and manage the organizations liabilities and investments.
    • Routinely review metrics to proactively identify and address issues affecting overall performance.
    • Design and maintain effective decision support financial models.
    • Act as a financial advisor to the CEO and other senior leaders providing expert analysis and guidance on financial and strategic matters.
  • Develop and oversee planning budgeting forecasting and reporting processes.
    • Oversee financial reporting and analysis including preparation of financial statements.
    • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating analyzing and reporting appropriate information.
    • Present financial performance and status of financing objectives to company board of directors.
  • Manage financial risk and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
    • Maintain financial records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
    • Ensure audits are conducted and appropriate corrective actions and/or process improvements are deployed.
    • Proactively identify and address potential financial risks for the company.
    • Implement and maintain effective risk management solutions.
    • Ensure effective accounting and purchasing system controls.
  • Manage company information technology department activities for effective business support.
    • Develop plan and implement an information technology strategy that meets the companys business needs delivers optimal return on investment and maintains security.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Selects retains and manages external audit partner.
  • Selects and manages insurance providers and loss prevention consultants.
  • Maintains banking relationships consistent with treasury and financing needs of the company.
  • Recruits hires and manages finance accounting and information technology staff.
    • Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values objectives and policies.
    • Provides mentoring coaching training and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong financial background; demonstrated experience managing complex finance and accounting systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking accounting audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members.
  • Excellent Excel skills and comfortable working with technology; experience working with integrated accounting systems or reconciling transactions between multiple systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adept in fiscal management principles and processes including resource management and needs assessment.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • High level of personal integrity and ethical and professional standards.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a similar field required masters degree in business administration finance accounting or a similar field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Relevant industry related experience preferred.
  • CPA certification is beneficial but not required.
