The Lower School Readiness Assessor in collaboration with the Lower School Associate Director of Enrollment Management will assess the readiness of applications for admission to the Lower School of Latin School of Chicago.
This is a part-time position from approximately mid-September through mid-May each year (excluding school breaks).
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct one-to-one readiness assessments with children between the ages of 3 and 9 applying to Latins Lower School (Junior Kindergarten through 4th Grade)
- Create assessment summaries for the consideration of Latins lower school admissions committee
- Provide feedback on assessment performance to the parents/guardians of lower school applicants
- Plan and participate in Junior Kindergarten playdates
- Schedule and conduct child observations at preschools nursery schools and elementary schools across the Chicagoland area on occasion
- Assist the Lower School Associate Director of Enrollment Management with the JK-4 application process
- Review all lower school applications and serve on the lower school admissions committee
- Participate in Lower School Open House
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required. Degree in early childhood or child development focus preferred
- Experience working with young children and families ideally in an independent school environment
- Previous early childhood/elementary teaching experience
- Strong parent/guardian and faculty relationships
- Computer skills
- Assessment/evaluation experience
