Job Description

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILTIES

Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist / Coordinator oversees and manages inventory operations within a chemical distribution environment. This role ensures accurate inventory levels compliance with safety and regulatory standards and the efficient movement of materials to meet customer and organizational demands.

Job Description:

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent overstocking stockouts or slow-moving inventory.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with system records.
  • Continuous analysis by tracking and reporting on key metrics including inventory turnover aging stock warehouse transfers and usage trends.
  • Forecasting Point of Contact work with Material Management Commercial Management and Operational Management to implement a forecast process.
  • Warehouse transfer planning plan transfers between warehouses to maintain an adequate level of stock in all locations.
  • Back up to Production Supervisor

Operations and Logistics Coordination:

  • Accountable for precise incoming (receiving) inventory accuracy collaborating with the Production Supervisor.
  • Accountability for the dispatching process in the warehouse accounting for all products to be correctly loaded and accounted for in our inventory system.
  • Coordinate with inbound and outbound logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of chemicals to customers and facilities.
  • Collaborate with material management and logistics teams to manage lead times and ensure efficient transportation.
  • Collaborate with Operations and logistics on warehouse transfers.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all inventory activities adhere to local state and federal regulations including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation for hazardous materials and ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are updated.

System Optimization:

  • Utilize inventory management software to track inventory levels locations and movements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with sales purchasing and operations teams to align inventory levels with business needs.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding inventory status risks and opportunities.

YOUR PROFILE

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration or a related field or 3-5 years of experience in inventory control or supply chain management preferably within a chemical distribution environment.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems / software (e.g. SAP Oracle or similar) and Excel.
  • Strong understanding of hazardous material handling and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g. APICS CPIM CSCP).
  • Knowledge of chemical industry regulations and standards.
  • Experience with lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Work Environment:
  • Warehouse office and distribution center environments.
  • May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols .
