Job Description

The Vanderbilt Eye Institute (VEI) in Nashville Tennessee is actively seeking a fellowship-trained retina specialist with an interest in ocular oncology to join our department. VEI is a large multi-specialty academic ophthalmology practice with multiple satellite offices and annual patient volume in excess of 160000. The candidate will be joining an established world-class retina division and multidisciplinary ocular oncology service with 10 current full-time retina faculty with subspecialty expertise in uveitis pediatric retina and inherited retinal disease. The retina division currently trains 3 vitreoretinal fellows and 1 ocular oncology fellow and has active clinical and basic research programs.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is Tennessees only Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute to treat people of all ages. VUMC provides multispecialty care and expertise in a full range of hematology oncology services.

VEI seeks candidates who are certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology or board eligible. This position is a full-time clinician-educator or clinician-scientist track. The position is open to current clinical faculty or those finishing fellowship training who are energetic enjoy teaching and mentoring are motivated to care for adults and children with various ocular tumors including melanomas and retinoblastoma are interested in clinical research and desire to be a part of a collegial and prominent academic ophthalmology department.
