The role
As an Engineering Manager your primary responsibility will be to lead our teams and individuals in efforts to enhance our products appeal foster personal development oversee technology delivery and strategic initiatives.
Our product development process is built around cross-functional teams. In collaboration with our product managers you lead the team in finding productive and sustainable ways of working while delivering value to our customers and the business.
You will be a part of a Product Area and together with the other teams work towards its objectives and mission. Together with your colleagues in the engineering leadership team you will also work with alignment and cross-team improvements to ensure that we continuously improve our organization and have an alignment in our organization also strengthen the relations with other parts of the organization.
Viaplay is a very dynamic company; there are always new challenges and new things to learn. We develop our product in-house in our offices in Stockholm and Barcelona.
Some of your work would be about:
- Apply a servant leadership mindset to grow motivated teams.
- Support software engineers and product designers through coaching and mentoring and creating opportunities for them to grow.
- Work closely with our agile product teams with a customer-first mindset to guide them in continuous improvements and team dynamics.
- Be responsible for staffing and recruitment for your team/s.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to set a direction for your teams.
- Work with other Engineering Managers across the product and our engineering organization to improve ways of working.
What we are looking for
To be our new Engineering Manager we believe that you are an experienced leader in the technology industry. You thrive in daily interactions with your teams and like to find new ways to do your job in an even better way. If you also just like us like to have fun at work we might have a match!
The ideal candidate meets all or some of the qualifications:
- Experienced in coaching and mentoring people and teams.
- Knowledgeable about product development and a user-centric approach.
- Solid experience working as a leader in an agile environment.
- Interest in software development and able to facilitate architectural or technical conversations.
- You have knowledge and experience of recruitment.
- Experience of previous leadership roles in a tech organization.
- You are a practitioner of systems thinking and curious about getting a deeper perspective on how to influence the organization.
- Previously worked with people from diverse backgrounds and prerequisites - and found it inspiring.
