Title: Electrical / IT (COMMS) Inspector

Essential Job Duties

Description

  • The Electrical / IT (COMMS) Inspector will support clients electrical construction inspection and work as a member of clients Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within clients Capital Improvement Program.

*Candidates must possess a current ICC certification as Commercial Electrical Inspector to apply.

*Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years and Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years prior to assignment

*Successfully hired candidates must have LAWA SIDA badge prior to official start.

Qualifications

Required Qualification:- Years of Experience/Education/Certificates/Training:

  • Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.
  • Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years
  • Training & knowledge of NFPA -70 70E & 72.
  • Fall protection and harness training.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience at the journey-level as an electrician with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works institutional commercial or industrial settings.
  • Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.
  • Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders including contractors engineers and city officials.
  • Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
  • Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency.
  • A strong understanding of diverse code requirements
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

Essential Job Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project specifications review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings submittals RFIs and change orders.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE and HOW of all observed construction activities ensuring accuracy clarity and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues deficiencies or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g. NECNFPA 70 70E 72) and client-specific standards.
  • Track and document time-and-material work field changes and job quantities
  • Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
  • Support special inspections and testing activities coordinating with engineers contractors and third-party agencies as needed.
  • Perform inspections of electrical installations including but not limited to:
  • Underground utilities and duct banks
  • High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels
  • Conduit racks conductors and grounding systems
  • Interior and exterior lighting systems
  • Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems
  • Electrical shutdowns lockout/tagout procedures and breaker coordination
  • Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as:
  • Low-voltage systems (voice/data security access control)
  • Door card readers security cameras and public address (P.A.) systems
  • Communication cabling and equipment rooms

Hardware/Software Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e. Microsoft Office Outlook Xcel Word PM Web Adobe Pro Bluebeam etc.).
  • Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently including change orders submittals RFIs and other inspection documents with minimal supervision.

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Element-Specific Requirements/Notes

  • May assume other duties as required/needed.
  • May be required to work various shifts including day swing and night.
  • Shall be open to work modified schedules including nights and weekends as dictated by the contractors work activities and accelerated project schedules.
  • Availability to work overtime as required to meet project deadlines and ensure timely completion of tasks is preferred.

Wage Requirement

  • Starting Salary range for this job is $120129.35 - $145418.74. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill education experience and working environment
