Thomas Cuisine is seeking a proactive and service-oriented Catering Manager to lead our catering operations across two vibrant college campuses. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven culinary team and deliver memorable event experiences through REAL food and genuine hospitality.
West Valley and Mission Colleges are bustling campuses in the heart of Silicon Valley. Our culinary team provides daily food services and manages a variety of on-campus events from faculty receptions and board meetings to student celebrations. As Catering Manager you will play a vital role in planning and executing these experiences with precision and care.
As the Catering Manager you are the main point of contact for campus catering events. You will coordinate logistics lead a catering team and ensure each event exceeds expectationswhile upholding Thomas Cuisines standards for quality service and culinary excellence. This role blends event planning service leadership and operational execution in a dynamic college setting.
Coordinate all aspects of catering operations from initial request through final execution.
Serve as the primary liaison with campus departments faculty and event organizers.
Plan catering setups and timelines based on the type and size of each event.
Manage schedule and lead the catering team to ensure excellent customer service.
Support the preparation setup delivery service and breakdown of events.
Maintain inventory of catering equipment and supplies.
Ensure compliance with food safety sanitation and event service standards.
Collaborate with the culinary team to align food offerings with event expectations.
Track catering orders maintain records and assist with invoicing and reporting.
Support day-to-day food service operations during non-event hours as needed.
Previous catering banquet or food service management experience required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
A hands-on leadership approach with the ability to multitask and adapt quickly.
Professional presentation and customer-focused mindset.
Basic computer skills (email scheduling event tracking).
Current ServSafe Certification or Food Handlers Card (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
High School Diploma or GED required; further education in hospitality a plus.
Hourly Range: $21.00$23.00 per hour depending on experience.
Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday with flexibility required during special events (early mornings or evenings).
