About the Role
The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in supporting payroll processing for Charlie Healths growing team of employees and contractors across the United States. Reporting to the Payroll Manager this role is responsible for ensuring timely accurate and compliant payroll runs supporting audits and assisting with payroll system maintenance and improvements. identify and register new tax jurisdictions and update UKG with information. Resolve employee pay issues. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues.

Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll runs and off-cycle payments for employees and independent contractors
- Review and validate timesheets deductions and tax information to ensure accurate pay
- Assist with payroll system (UKG Pro and Workforce Management) updates testing and troubleshooting
- Maintain payroll records in accordance with federal state and local regulations
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
- Assist with wage garnishments benefit and 401(k) deductions and related reconciliations
- Support regular audits of payroll data controls and processes
- Collaborate with internal teams including People Operations Finance and IT to ensure accuracy and alignment across systems
- Assist with payroll system updates testing troubleshooting and documentation of payroll processes
- Proactively contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and service delivery
Requirements
- 35 years of payroll experience in a multi-state distributed workforce environment and a deep knowledge of payroll tax
- Familiarity with payroll compliance regulations including wage and hour laws garnishments and tax withholdings
- Hands-on experience using UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management (or similar systems) preferred
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Business or a related field preferred; relevant certifications (e.g. FPC CPP) are a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to change

The total target base compensation for this role will be between $62000 and $81000 per year at the commencement of employment. In addition to base compensation this role offers a target performance-based bonus. The target total cash compensation range including potential bonus will be between $68000 and $89000 per year. Please note pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location experience expertise internal pay equity and other relevant business considerations. Further cash compensation is only part of the total compensation package which depending on the position may include stock options and other Charlie Health-sponsored benefits.#LI-Remote
