Rutgers The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Lead Central Sterile Technician the within Office for Clinical Affairs of the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM ). Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Clinics the Lead Central Sterile Technician will assist in the day-to-day operations of Central Sterilization. In addition the Lead Central Sterile Technician maintains all aspects of sterilization procedures related to dental instruments and supplies associated with patient care within the various clinical operators. The Lead Central Sterile Technician is also responsible for handling assigned projects ensuring all the needs of Central Sterilization are met and providing work direction and guidance. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Operates and monitors steam autoclaves sonic washers and other sterilizing equipment. Keeps records of loads completed items in loads and maintenance procedures performed. Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments equipment and assembles wraps and sterilizers cassettes trays and instruments. Follows proper standard precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas. Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and equipment. Maintains necessary supply levels in sterile storage areas. Verifies that equipment functions properly requisitions for equipment maintenance repair or replacement and removes defective equipment. Assists with maintaining established departmental policies and procedures objectives and quality improvement safety and environmental and infection control standards. Examines equipment to detect leaks worn or loose parts or other indications of disrepair.
