Job Description

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic co-op student from a civil or environmental engineering degree program to join our team for a4- 8- or 12-month work term in our Courtenay office starting September 2025!

About the Opportunity

Working alongside seasoned engineers and recent graduates alike you will be primarily engaged in projects related to general civil engineering. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and communities such as municipal government and Indigenous communities. Our goal is for you to come away with an enhanced skill set and real-life experience in a consulting practice that will serve you well in your career as an engineer.

  • Honing your civil engineering skills and developing an understanding of best practices in a practical real world setting.
  • Applying theory and providing workable solutions related to the implementation of engineering work regarding general municipal engineering including roads water sanitary and drainage infrastructure design and planning.
  • Establishing relationships with communities and acting as the clients representative on-site during construction to gather information conduct inspections and ensure that designs are built to specifications.
  • Providing accurate and timely input and summarizing technical reports plans studies proposals and presentations.
  • Assisting project managers with cost estimating quantity take offs contract preparation and administration project coordination construction management and report preparation for civil infrastructure related to community development.
  • Proactively and professionally communicating with contractors co-workers clients other consultants and the public.

About You

We are looking for a student who is currently enrolled in a civil environmental or integrated engineering (with an emphasis in civil engineering) program who are in either their 3rd or 4th year of study. Related experience is beneficial but is not required.

  • Communication You are a skilled communicator. You can take the complicated and make it easy to understand using research and data to deepen understanding and tell a compelling story.
  • You have a valid Class 5 Drivers License (required for conducting site visits).
