Position Number:121570Position Title (Classification Title):Student Services Specialist 121570Working Title:FA Student Services SpecialistJob Summary:Join the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS) team at a Great College to Work For on the beautiful UWF campus just minutes from the beach. The Student Services Specialist will have the opportunity to choose between a variety of retirement plans and select from affordable healthcare insurance plans. The Student Services Specialist counsels and explains financial aid processes and eligibility requirements. The incumbent will mainly be responsible for providing assistance via email to current and prospective students/parents other departments on campus and outside agencies. This position assists with technical support for various systems to include testing. The incumbent collects all documentation processes and determines outcomes for Professional Judgments to include special unusual and COA appeals. The incumbent will serve as backup support as needed to include various internal processing tasks special program support assisting students/parents in Argo Central and communication/outreach campaigns.DepartmentFinancial AidFLSA:ExemptMinimum Qualifications:A bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and seven years of appropriate experience.Position Qualifications:A bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and seven years of appropriate experience.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of financial aid policies and procedures; strong communication skills; computational skills; strong analytical skills; strong customer service skills; experience in a high-volume setting.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 40% - Provide customer service via response or outreach from financial aid email account phone calls and Argo Central inquiries to prospective students/parents other departments or outside agencies. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Ensures website and financial aid communication content is current and accurate. Assists with various reports that help with processing student files. Collect documentation processing and determining outcomes for Professional Judgments. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Work assigned to student reports and other office/administrative duties as assigned. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Maintain backup support as needed to include various internal processing tasks special program support and communication campaigns. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Assist with technical support for various financial aid systems to include but not limited to testing. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Assist with and/or participate in Enrollment/University events as needed. Other duties as assigned based on departmental unit and/or divisional needs. - (Essential)
