Job Description

Alfred Health

The Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health Program (Amah)

AMAH provides specialist psychiatric clinical care to people with severe mental illness. The Program has a primary responsibility for residents of inner South-eastern metropolitan Melbourne but cares for all patients seeking its services.

The AMAH program comprises:

  • AMAH Hospital and Emergency Services (HES)
  • AMAH Adult and Older Adult Services (AOAS)
  • AMAH Infant Child & Youth Services including Headspace (HI-CYMHS)
  • AMAH State-wide Services

The Role

The Carer Peer Worker provides peer support to carers and families that have a relative or friend receiving treatment form Alfred Mental and Addiction Health community programs. The position will work in partnership with the AMAH Carer Peer Workforce Senior carer Peer Worker Carer Consultant and multidisciplinary treating teams to ensure the unique needs of families are understood and that families are supported during the treatment planning processes.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential

  • A personal identification with caring experiences of a family member or person with mental ill health

Desirable

  • Experience working in a Carer Peer role.
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or Intentional Peer Support Training
