Job Description

6-8 OpenSciEd Curriculum Implementation Team

Description: The 6-8 OpenSciEd Curriculum Implementation Team will design the scope and sequence of our new HQIM OpenSciEd via Activate Learning. Each grade level team will:

  • Review six units of OpenSciEd lessons.
  • Create a pacing calendar.
  • Identify key lessons and activities that cannot be skipped.
  • Write content objectives and language objectives.
  • Identify lessons and activities that are repetitive and can be skipped if teachers are behind in pacing.
  • Work on basic EL/SPED modifications.
  • Identify major and minor assessments that will be common across the district.

Members will report to the K-8 STEM Director Rupi Kaur.

Qualifications: :

  • Current 6-8 Science Teacher
  • Able to meet in person in Everett over the summer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rich and varied experience with science curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of SEI strategies and strategies to support struggling learners
  • Knowledge of the OpenSciEd curriculum and pedagogy
  • Strong communication skills

Working Time:

  • 40 Hours total
    • All in-person meetings will occur at mutually agreed upon times in-person to meet with the K-8 STEM Director and Teams.
    • Some Zoom meetings are possible

Compensation: Up to $1600 based on $40/ hr (40 hours total)

Number of Positions: 6 (2 teachers per grade level)
