Rutgers University-Newark an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark New Jersey a city of promise is seeking a Substance Use Specialist. Reporting directly to the Director of the ADAP Program ADAP counselors are essential members of the Counseling Centers multidisciplinary team offering prevention education clinical assessment/evaluation risk assessment individual and group therapies training and consultation intervention recovery support case management and referral. This position is responsible for and not limited to the following. Provide rich opportunities for collaboration with other professionals and campus constituents to address substance use related concerns with the Rutgers-Newark student population; Work with diverse populations and contributes to clinical case presentations in team meetings; Make complex clinical decision and intervene in potentially life threatening clinical situations after consulting the Director of ADAP or Director of the Counseling Center. We seek a well-trained clinician who has demonstrated education and employment experience in providing substance use and mental health interventions with specific interest/expertise in collegiate mental health and collegiate recovery. Possesses a strong interest in one or more of the following areas: multicultural issues; LGBTQ health; posttraumatic stress (including sexual abuse sexual assault); substance use; eating disorders.

The Alcohol & Other Drug Assistance Program ( ADAP ) is designed to provide early identification and interventions for students who use alcohol or other drugs. Early recognition of substance misuse or dependence provides an individual with a greater chance for positive change.
Preferred Qualifications
NJ state licensures as LCADC and LCSW /Ph.D. Experience with assessment program development software platforms/packages and quality assurance is strongly preferred Experience with Titanium Schedule or a similar counseling center-related electronic scheduling and records system is strongly desired Professional association involvement is strongly preferred Additional expertise in at least one other area including but not limited to multicultural concerns groups outreach developmental issues mood management mind-body principles crisis management clinical training supervision technology or data/records management is highly desired.
