Job Description
We are seeking a Disability Claims Counsel to support a Fortune 500 financial services firm. This role is fully remote in Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of short-term and long-term disability benefit claims to provide expert legal analysis.
- Analyze and interpret medical records alongside applicable legal standards to support claim assessments.
- Advise on Canadian tax implications related to disability benefits and the integration of Canada Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefits.
- Collaborate closely with in-house counsel and external teams to develop legal strategies.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in claims litigation with a preferred focus on disability / benefit denial cases.
- Strong familiarity with medical records disability law and related regulatory frameworks in Canada.
- Solid litigation background with courtroom experience is preferred.
- Must be licensed to practice law in a Canadian province.
- Excellent analytical communication and organizational skills.
