Job Title: Chief Information Officer
Organization: American Retirement Association
Location: Hybrid (On-site 3 days/week Arlington VA)

Position Summary

We are seeking an innovative business forward Chief Information Officer (CIO) to join our executive leadership team. The CIO serves as the senior technology advisor responsible for shaping and executing a strategy that supports operational excellence innovation and growth.

The CIO leads a high-performing team of internal staff and external partners overseeing the development integration and management of enterprise systems infrastructure data architecture and cybersecurity. With a demonstrated understanding of how technology can advance organizational goals the CIO fosters cross-functional collaboration champions data-informed decision-making and ensures the association remains at the forefront of digital innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior executive responsible for all aspects of the associations technology-related work.
  • Develop and lead the associations IT strategy ensuring technology decisions align with organizational goals and evolving business needs; provide technical guidance on highpriority projects and work with key stakeholders to facilitate organizational progress.
  • Lead mentor and develop a talented IT team that promotes a culture of collaboration growth and continuous improvement.
  • Drive exploration and responsible implementation of emerging technologies including AI and automation to enhance member experience and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain strong cybersecurity and compliance practices that reflect industry best practices.
  • Oversee IT budgets vendor contracts and relations and major technology projects to ensure accountability alignment and results.
  • In the first year the CIO will work with internal teams and external partners to oversee the execution of our new association management system (AMS) implementation a core phase of our digital transformation program.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (typically 10 years) in IT leadership roles with at least 5 years in a senior executive position.
  • Strong background in enterprise architecture digital transformation and emerging technologies.
  • Experience developing and leading high-impact technology strategies within a complex organization.
  • Experience implementing developing and maintaining Fonteva/Salesforce-based platforms.
  • Excellent leadership communication collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Bachelors degree in information technology computer science or related field required; masters degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience in professional member-based associations is preferred.
