Job Description

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid supports student success by providing comprehensive financial aid counseling to students and families ensuring compliance with federal state and institutional regulations. This role is responsible for administering and maintaining financial aid programs including verification awarding packaging professional judgments satisfactory academic progress (SAP) scholarships loans Federal Work-Study and veterans education benefits. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to promote student financial wellness. Work hours may vary including weekend hours as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group financial aid counseling including application assistance and eligibility guidance.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while promoting student advocacy and success.
  • Communicate with current and prospective students via email phone text and presentations.
  • Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP); update records as needed.
  • Utilize federal and state systems (e.g. ScholarTrack NSLDS COD) to research and resolve aid issues.
  • Maintain accurate student records and assist with data collection and reporting.
  • Assist with processing forms for external agencies and coordinating with Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs centers.
  • Support outreach events and workshops including orientations and community programs.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA and all federal state and institutional regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Experience And Other Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

  • An associate degree with 2-3 years of related experience or a bachelors degree with 13 years of related experience.
  • Must have a strong customer service focus.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced diverse environment.
  • Knowledge of financial aid regulations and processes attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.
  • Proficiency with computers internet Microsoft Office (Word Excel Access Outlook and PowerPoint) software required.
