About the role
In this vital role youll ensure the secure handling of patient information staff supervision and process improvement. Key responsibilities include:
Manage the release of sensitive patient information
Oversee all requests for medical records from patients legal entities law enforcement and health departments ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and hospital policies.
Lead and support a high-performing team
Supervise ROI reception and transcription staff coordinate daily operations handle rostering recruitment training and HR matters and ensure adequate coverage at all times.
Ensure timely and accurate response to subpoenas and police requests
Liaise with legal and law enforcement agencies to provide required documentation expert statements and medical reports in line with SVH NSW Health and legal standards.
Drive quality compliance and continuous improvement
Update and implement HIS policies and procedures lead section meetings manage offsite records oversee HIS reception and transcription services and conduct special projects.
Act as a key liaison across departments and external stakeholders
Collaborate with clinicians storage vendors researchers (via REGIS) and hospital executives to ensure smooth delivery of services and support for research audits and patient care.
About you
Youre a detail-oriented and adaptable Health Information professional with a passion for privacy accuracy and service excellence. To be successful in this role you will have:
Strong knowledge of Health Information Management practices
Comprehensive understanding of contemporary HIM in NSW Health including relevant legislation hybrid record systems and the NSW Health Privacy Manual.
Excellent organisation and time management
Proven ability to manage competing priorities meet tight deadlines work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic hospital environment.
Team leadership and training capability
Confident working both independently and collaboratively with the ability to educate guide and support HIS staff in release of information and other key processes.
Advanced communication and problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflicts communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders and maintain professionalism in sensitive situations.
Desirable extras that set you apart
Experience supervising HIS teams a solid understanding of patient administration systems and familiarity with medical terminology will be highly regarded.
