Rochambeau The French International School of Washington DC (Rochambeau) has an opening for anAssistantEducation Counselor (Attach dEducation) - Full-time.

Location:Bethesda MD
Reports to:Education Services Manager

Job Type:Full-time;non-exempt; Administrative & Maintenance Personnel Association Collective Bargaining Unit (CBA) applicable

Salary Information:Thesalary range is $40265-$75445 per the Faculty CBA Salary Scale. Teachers will be hired and employed in the highest category of teaching staff to which they are entitled in accordance with the degrees and certifications that they hold and the subjects and levels that they teach.As a full-time position this role is also eligible for enrollment in health dental and vision benefits 403(b) retirement plan and paid time off.


THE SCHOOL

Rochambeau The French International School (Rochambeau) located in Bethesda MD is an independent and coeducational day school offering a unique combination of the French curriculum and a high-quality English program to approximately 1100 students from Preschool (2-year-old) through 12th grade. POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Education Services Manager theAssistant Education Counselorprovides all students equitable access to a quality developmentally appropriate and comprehensive environment. The person in this role is expected to promote the disciplinary values of French education necessary to ensure a good work environment in the entire community. They are responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations of the school and within the framework of duties the Head of School/Proviseurs instructions. This person will be expected to adapt to a wide range of age groups and conveys basic school values of respect tolerance high work ethic and secularism.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

These examples of duties and responsibilities are intended only as examples of the various job duties to be performed. Faculty and staff positions are school-based and in-person.

  • Welcoming the students to the secondaire;

  • Supervising the students arrival at school including control of tardiness and absences;

  • Supervision of study hours and classes in which teachers are absent;

  • assisting with the setup of examination rooms;

  • supervising tests and exams;

  • actively participating in security drills;

  • Supervision of lunchand managing student behavior outside of the classroom;

  • Supervision of students leaving the campus at the end of the school day;

  • Supervision of the school buildings and their immediate work area;

  • Notify health services and administration in case of accidents or illness (in case of emergency they are permitted to evacuate a student)

  • Vigilance in ensuring visitors on campus are signed in and accounted for;

  • Contribute in collaboration with teaching staff to students integration into the community.

  • Performs additional related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.


Administrative Responsibilities of the Assistant Education Counselor:

  • Tracking of absences tardiness and excuses;

  • Collect notes and contact parents if necessary;

  • Maintain and assist in organized set-up of office files;

  • Take and receive messages (administrative teachers students parents);

  • Distribution and explanation of student lockers and padlocks;

  • Manage lost and found items

  • Meeting with students parents and teachers as needed.

  • Maintain consistent punctual and regular attendance.

  • Commitment to Rochambeaus Vision Mission Values and Strategic Plan.


Additional Expectations:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a variety of audiences including students staff visitors and parents/guardians.

  • Positively support the schools mission policies and practices and work collaboratively in a professional organization.

  • Maintain consistent punctual and regular attendance.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureat or high school diploma required (Bachelors degree in Education Counseling or other discipline preferred).

  • Experienced with effective counseling theories and practices.

  • Knowledge of both French and American standards for school counseling is required.

  • Fluent French and proficient English language skills are required (both spoken and written).

  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with all segments of the community of the school (students parents teachers other employees etc.).

  • Adhere to the school Code of Ethics and Conduct.

  • Display the use of professional behavior practice teamwork and ethical judgment in decision-making.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

  • Plan and organize his/her work and that of his/her team. Meet project deadlines.

  • Basiccomputer mathematical and writing skills with attention to detail.

  • Experience with Google platforms preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position primarily operates in a school/office environment. The role may require prolonged periods of sitting walking or standing extensive use of computers and other office equipment and occasional lifting or moving of equipment up to 25 pounds.
